This is a rare opportunity to join one of the only truly democratic, private groups in the state of Delaware. The ED is a level 3 trauma center and they are experiencing high increases in census in both their main ED and at their satellite facility located nearby. With a census potentially topping 50K this year and the looming retirement of a partner, they are adding a physician to provide the extra coverage necessary to keep their physician/patient stats well under 2.5 per hour. The hospital is a also a 2011 Distinguished Hospital Award winner for Clinical Excellence.
The ED is the EMS base command for the county including both ground and air transport. This is a peer/boarded group and ultrasound is utilized regularly in the ED. The department is totally computerized with the IBEX system and electronic medical records.
• Physicians start as employees of the group and become equity owner/partners after one year or after board certification is achieved, whichever comes first. • Shift equity starts from day one and all physicians have a vote in the management of the department. • Doctors work 10-hour shifts providing 50 hours of daily physician coverage supported by additional 24-hour mid-level coverage during the week and 30-hour coverage Saturday through Monday. • Doctors work between 130 and 140 hours per month. • Once partnership is earned, the income increases considerably based on production and billing as well as performance. • Last year, the average partner enjoyed an additional $140K in variable compensation, some topping $400K.
