The Hospital ... Community Hospital is a 25-bed critical access JACHO facility and the primary health care facility for Goshen County and surrounding areas in southeast Wyoming. The Hospital offers the latest in technological upgrades and supported by a staff of dedicated physicians. Community Hospital also offers a 75 long-term care beds, ambulatory care unit, mobile MRI, cardiopulmonary rehab, fully equipped laboratory, full compliment radiological suite and physical therapy.
The hospital provides lifelong health care in a variety of settings including a Level III Trauma Center and Banner Medical Clinic (family and specialty clinics). Community Hospital features an on-site daycare for its employees and also qualifies as a WWAMI Clerkship site.
Torrington with a population of 6,000 is located in Goshen County (pop. 12,500) in southeastern Wyoming where the historic Oregon Trail crosses the Platte River (See the Map). It is a small community, but there is a little of everything. Torrington has all the necessities of life. Along with what you may need, there are all the extras such as motels, a movie theater, a golf course, a swimming pool, parks, a bowling alley, and numerous churches.
Torrington boasts one of the lowest costs of living in the state and has also been named the cleanest city in Wyoming. Major industry in the area is agriculturally-based and the agricultural expertise is on display each August at the Goshen County Fair and Rodeo. Torrington is 84 miles north of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and 184 miles north of Denver, Colorado. Scottsbluff, Nebraska is 30 miles to the east and Casper, Wyoming is 145 miles to the northwest.

Torrington also offers • low cost of living • no state income tax • an excellent school district and local community college • The Goshen County indoor arena and Rendezvous Center is the host site of many events throughout the year and youth baseball and softball games fill the summer evenings in the County.
Fort Laramie National Historic Site is the West's finest reminder of Frontier life in the 1800s including refurbished buildings, museum and several interpretive areas as well as, the best kept fort and the most complete Western history bookstore west of the Mississippi. Other areas to be explored are the Oregon Trail, amd the Mormon Trail, routes taken by the pioneers as they moved west. Also, the Hell Gap Site nearby is one of the most important archaeological sites in North America.
Hawk Springs reservoir is a state recreation area offering fishing, boating, picnic sites, hiking and bird-watching. Hawk Springs reservoir boasts a blue heron rookery. Other birds in the area include the Canada Goose, mallard, blue–winged and green-winged teal, gadwall, pintail, wood duck, avocet and great horned owl. Game fish include walleye, large mouth bass, yellow perch, channel catfish and black croppie.
