United Health Services (UHS) is a fully integrated regional healthcare system that serves almost every medical sub-specialty. The system is a community-owned, not-for-profit organization operating 500-beds in New York State.
Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center, is a Level II Trauma Center and a designated Stroke Center. Wilson Medical Center is a 296-bed teaching hospital providing a full range of medical-surgical services, including cardiology, emergency medicine, neonatology, nephrology, maternity care, pediatrics, perinatology, pulmonary medicine, neuroscience, ophthalmology, and renal dialysis.
Binghamton General Hospital, which has a designated Crisis Center, is a full service hospital and the area's leading trauma, cardiac cath/open heart, and behavioral health provider.
A little more than an hour north of Binghamton is Norwich, the home of the UHS facility, Chenango Memorial Hospital. CMH is a not-for-profit, 139-bed hospital serving 55,000 people who live in Chenango County.
UHS currently offers transitional year, Family Practice and Internal Medicine residencies, fellowship programs, as well as 3rd and 4th year medical students on rotation through an affiliation with Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. |

Binghamton (pop. 47,000) is located in the Southern Tier of New York. It is the county seat of Broome County and the principal city and cultural center of the Greater Binghamton region, which has a population of approximately 250,000.(See the Map)
Located in the heartland of New York State, the Greater Binghamton area is rich with lively cities, and quaint villages. The area is proud of its many beautiful parks and outdoor recreation centers. The confluence of the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers help sculpt the landscape with lush scenery and a variety of wildlife.

Binghamton University is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Binghamton Univerivsity has grown from a small liberal arts college to a large doctoral-granting institution, presently consists of six colleges and schools and is now home to nearly 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students and occupies 120 buildings.

Binghamton Sports
The area is home to the Eastern League's Binghamton Mets (AA affiliate of the New York Mets) and the Binghamton Senators hockey team, the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators. Division I College Sports are played at Binghamton University, which is a member of the America East Conference.
Greater Binghamton Arts & Entertainment
The Binghamton Philharmonic presents a full season of classical and pops concerts. Their concerts feature world renowned artists and provide some of Greater Binghamton's most diverse and innovative musical experiences.
A year round semi-professional theater company in western Broome county, the Cider Mill Playhouse presents 7 productions a year. The Endicott Performing Arts Center (EPAC), promotes the performing arts within the community through the renovation and operation of the historical Lyric/Towne Theatre. Tri-Cities Opera has been the cultural centerpiece of the Southern Tier of New York for over fifty years.
Other attractions include the Binghamton Zoo, Kopernik Space Center observatory, and the Roberson Museum and Science Center, which is home to the E. A. Link Planetarium.

Norwich with a population of 7,000 is nestled in the Chenango River valley and is the seat of Chenango County populated by 52,000 people. The many farms and forests in the surrounding valley give Norwich a unique and charming pastoral appeal. During winter months, these rugged areas are home to winter sports enthusiasts because of the numerous hiking and cross country skiing trails. One of the most popular areas for all year round recreation is the Whaupaunaucau State Forest located in the village of North Norwich. During the autumn months, the tree covered hills are a haven for hunters and those seeking breathtaking views of fall foliage. Other near-by outdoor recreational areas include New Michigan State Forest, McDonough State Forest and Ludlow Creek State Forest. |
