The 24,000-volume ED of Medical Center Enterprise has 2 trauma rooms and a cardiac room as part of this 12-bed ED. Central monitoring and wall mounts are located in every room, and an x-ray is located in the department. The ED treats mostly medium acuity cases and has a 12 percent admission rate. Of these cases, 25 percent are pediatrics. A physician on-call room is available. Some severe traumas and neurosurgery are transferred to Flowers Regional or Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Established in 1905, the facility recently completed a $5.2 million reconstruction project and added a state-of-the-art, multi-row CAT scanner and additional diagnostic imaging services. Medical Center Enterprise is a 131-bed acute care medical facility located 85 miles from Montgomery and 90 miles from Panama City Beach. ID: 6149 Location: GEORGIA Southeast Coast - EMS Director - to $335K If you are board certified physician residency trained in Emergency Medicine with strong EMS background, this great opportunity provides a marvelous practice environment along with a top tier income package. Join an established group with strong stability in one of their finest sites along the southeast Georgia coast. This facility is an award winning hospital with all the bells and whistles, and a superb level two trauma center seeing a census of 50,000 annually. The physical plant is spacious and state of the art with in-department radiology including a 16-slice CAT Scan, bedside ultrasound and a dedicated nursing staff. The physicians are a peer group, all residency trained and boarded in Emergency Medicine, with an average age range from mid 30s to mid 40s, all with young families. They are looking to replace a physician who recently passed away. The EMS directorship covers an EMS base command at this site with 98% ground transport. The position will provide some protected time and a monthly stipend. Physicians work 10 hour shifts and average 36 clinical hours a week with outstanding coverage. There are 40 hours of physician coverage daily as well as 36 hours of mid-level provider coverage. Mid-levels cover the dedicated Fast Track and also work with the physicians in the main ED. The patient mix is standard community hospital range, with an acuity level of around 13%. Mid-levels see about 45% of ED patients. There are two academic affiliations with medical students rotating through the ED. A full hospitalist program is in place with no admit orders being written by ED physicians. They also enjoy a full electronic medical record system. Back-up is outstanding with timely response in all major specialties including Pediatrics, Surgery, Ortho and Cardiology. Complex Neuro cases, PICU and NICU are transferred to Shands in Jacksonville or up to Savannah. Administrative support of the ED is excellent with the VP of Clinical affairs actually an ex-ED nurse who is a strong champion of the department. As an employee of this group, an incoming physician will receive a guaranteed salary of $120 per hour, but actually be paid on a fee-for-service basis averaging in the $140 per hour range. The EMS Director will receive a monthly stipend from $1K to $2K depending upon experience. Bellin Hospital is a recognized regional leader in orthopedic and cardiovascular services. It has an accredited stroke center, chest pain observation center run by the ER physicians, and superb consultants including both an adult and pediatric hospitalist program. We work in a thriving 30K visit ED with a good payer mix, low trauma, excellent EMS system including our own hospital based Eagle III helicopter program. We are currently moving into our new emergency department which includes a 16-bed main ED, 6-bed observation unit, 6-bed pediatric department, and radiology suite in the ED which would include both x-ray and two CT scanners. The practice environment is incredible which includes the ability to get all studies including CT, ultrasound, MRI/MRA, and all subspecialties 24/7. Coverage is for 8 hours shifts with variable mid-level coverage 8 AM to 12 midnight utilizing PA/NP or family practice providers. Double coverage with ED physicians is also utilized during high volume periods. Full time is considered 16 shifts/month. More or less is available upon request.
