The Position and the Department
8,400 ED visits annually
8 beds with a 5-bed Fast Track
12-hour and 24-hour shifts of single coverage
The department sees approximately 10% pediatric patients
Radiology and lab are easily accessible from the department
All specialties are represented with the exception of neurosurgery and pulmonology
The Requirements
Board-certified in emergency medicine OR a primary care specialty with emergency medicine experience

All physicians are partners with Southwest Kansas Emergency Physicians, LLP, a registered limited liability partnership
An excellent compensation package is offered to part-time and full-time physicians
Malpractice insurance with unlimited tail coverage is provided
Option to participate in a 401(k) plan with immediate 100% vesting
Partners are eligible to participate in health, life, disability, dental, and optical insurance through payroll deduction
The Hospital ... Western Plains Medical Complex is a 99-bed acute care facility that serves as a regional referral center for Southwest Kansas. The Hospital has a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art medical equipment, including a newly expanded and remodeled 24-hour Emergency Department, inpatient rehabilitation, and a skilled nursing unit, an intensive care unit, and an inviting, warm and comfortable, Women's Center featuring a Level II nursery and obstetrical services.
Services available on an outpatient basis include Physical Therapy, EEG, Sleep Studies, Dietary Counseling, Aquatic Therapy, and Respiratory Testing and Treatments.
