The Hospital has 146 licensed beds and a workforce of 675 employees. The hospital serves the south-central portion of Illinois, primarily the 32,000 residents of Effingham County.

The Position and the Department
24,000 ED visits annually
17-bed department
Physicians work 12-hour shifts
Physician double coverage 11-12 hours per day
EMS transfer to surrounding tertiary care centers readily available
The Requirements
Board-certified or board-prepared in Emergency Medicine OR board-certified in a primary care specialty
Primary care physicians should also be ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certified with emergency medicine experience
The Package

Malpractice insurance with unlimited tail coverage is provided
Option to participate in a 401(k) plan with immediate 100% vesting

Effingham, with a population of 12,000, is located in the south-central portion of Illinois. Effingham County, whose economy is driven by service, transportation, manufacturing industries, as well as agriculture, has 32,000 residents. The Effingham Park District - its facilities include recreation of all kinds. Modern gyms, multipurpose rooms, and more make up the district's rec center, located on the grounds of one of the city's three parks. These parks include courts for tennis enthusiasts, ball diamonds for public and league use, and wooded trails for a quiet walk or long hike. The Kluthe Memorial Pool serves thousands looking for some water play, and next to it is an 18-hole miniature golf course.
Effingham is also home to 800 acres of beautiful water at Lake Sara, which is surrounded by a wooded shoreline and Lake Sara Beach. The incredible Shawnee National Forest with thousands of unspoiled acres is a short drive down a scenic Illinois road.
Located sixty miles west of Effingham, Carlyle Lake offers the peaceful retreat of a small town combined with the grandeur of Illinois' largest manmade lake. With 26,000 acres of water and 13,000 acres of surrounding public land, Carlyle Lake offers diverse recreational opportunities and is the perfect scenic getaway for millions of visitors each year.
Two hours' drive west along I-70 is the city of St. Louis with all the ammenities expected of a city with 2.8 million residents located within the metro area. The city is well-known for its sports teams - the Cardinals, Blues, and Rams, but offers visitors a plethora of restaurants, gardens, parks, galleries, and cultural events.
